AbdulRazaq, who is now 59-years-old was born February 5, 1960, in Zaria, Nigeria.
He was born into the family of the first Northern lawyer in Nigeria, AbdulGaniyu F. (AGF) Abdul Razaq (SAN) who holds the traditional titles of Mutawalin Ilorin and Tafida of Zazzau (Zaria).
AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is happily married with children.
AbdulRahman attended Capital School Kaduna between 1966 and 1968; Bishop Smith Memorial School Ilorin between 1970 and 1971; and Government College Kaduna – where he sat his West African School Certificate Examination (WASC).
He didn’t further his education after his West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE), as he opted to become an entrepreneur.
Just like we’ve stated earlier, he decided to focus on business rather than education, and he would became popularly known at the age of 31 when he founded Nigeria’s first indigenous oil and gas trading companies, NOPA Oil Services and First Fuels. This was the first indigenous company to lift crude oil and petroleum products to the United States, Europe and Asia.
His journey to fame actually started when he ventured into the importation of petroleum products at a relatively young age.

His father, Alhaji AGF Abdul Razaq (SAN), is a prominent statesman who fought for Nigeria’s Independence and a Federal Minister the First Republic in 1965.

he ran for the office of governor under the political party CPC in Kwara State but lost to PDP’s Abdulfattah Ahmed in 2011.
In the 2015 General Elections, AbdulRahman ran under the PDP platform for the Kwara Central Senatorial Seat and lost to the present out-going Senate President Bukola Saraki.
He won the October 2018 APC’s keenly contested direct primaries, and was declared the party’s candidate for the governorship election held 9th March, 2019, and was declared the winner after He polled a total of 331,546 votes.
While Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Razaq Atunwa secured 114,754 votes.
