When the current 911 Turbo S was launched in 2020, it was downright impressive. With 640 horsepower, it became the quickest, most powerful 911 Turbo ever. The 992-gen 911 Turbo S is capable of so much more, though, and Brabus just proved it through an impressive tuning program.
The current Porsche 911 Turbo S is powered by a twin-turbo, 3.8-liter, flat-six that delivers a total of 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque - numbers that make it the most powerful 911 Turbo to date. The new 911 Turbo S is not only very powerful but also very fast: it goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and up to a top speed of 205 mph.
Brabus saw these numbers as a challenge, and its latest "820" package wants to prove that the 911 Turbo S is capable of even more. In fact, the tuner is offering two different stages of upgrade. Stage 1 includes the PowerXtra P38S-720 performance upgrade that updates the system with new control maps for fuel injection and ignition and steps up the turbo boost pressure. As a result, the engine’s final output is increased to 720 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. This brings its 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time goes down to 2.6 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 335 km/h (208 mph).
Stage 2 introduces the PowerXtra P38S-820 performance upgrade. This upgrade includes two special high-performance turbochargers with reinforced axial bearings, larger compressor units, and larger turbines. The ECU is modified even further, and the result is more than impressive. The 911 Turbo S engine now delivers a total of 820 horsepower and 701 pound-feet of torque. With this upgrade, the 911 Turbo S can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 340 km/h (211 mph).
Only TechArt was able to obtain some sort of similar numbers for its GT Street R: 800 horsepower and 700 pound-feet, 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, and a top speed of 217 mph.
To improve both sound and performance, Brabus equipped the 911 Turbo S with a high-performance exhaust system made from INCONEL - a particularly heat resistant yet lightweight alloy that ends with quad pipes. The exhaust system features actively controlled butterfly valves that can be opened and closed manually by the driver when choosing between "Sport" or "Coming Home" mode.
Due to the increased performance, Brabus also needed to focus its attention on reducing the aerodynamic lift. The new body kit was developed into the wind tunnel and includes components made from carbon fiber and finished in high-gloss or matt sealed. Up front it includes a new front spoiler with flaps on the left and right - an idea inspired by the racing world - and a new front bumper with larger air intakes featuring tailor-made carbon-fiber elements.
Updates continue with flaps mounted to the rocker panels in front of the rear wheel arches, while the rear is optimized with an exposed-carbon diffuser with special cutouts for the four 100-millimeter end pipes and a new rear wing.
In order to complete the exterior look, the new Brabus 820 is equipped with a new set of forged Monoblock Z “Platinum Edition” center-lock wheels sized 9x21 up front and 12x22 in the rear. They will be offered with Continental, Pirelli, or Yokohama high-performance tires, sized 255/30 ZR 21 at the front and 335/25 ZR 22 on the rear axle.
For an even sportier appearance, the car can be lowered by about 25 millimeters thanks to new, height-adjustable sport springs.
For the interior, Brabus opted for black leather with red piping and stitching. Not only does it give the car a very elegant look, but it also creates a nice contrast with the exterior gray finish. Other interior highlights include:
Lower seat trim front seats in leather Dashboard in leather Center console in leather Front door panels in leather Leather side panels Floor in quilted leather Floor protector in quilted leather Load compartment completely in quilted leather Trunk mat in quilted leather Steering wheel outer rim in leather Airbag in leather A-pillar in leather Design trim in red BRABUS aluminum pedal pads, 2-piece, aluminum, matt anodized
