The 2023 Cadillac XT5 is a practical and value-conscious choice in midsize luxury SUVs. This recent model employs a dashing look with chunky roof pillars, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and a more intuitive gear, with the new 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder becoming the base engine.
The engine revs smoothly, and the power is linear. Yet it lacks the natural acceleration shown by some of the rivals with turbocharged engines, like the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V, which is available with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine.
Despite feeling slothful, the XT5 is well-powered. Consumer Reports expect that the car will be more reliable in the future compared to other average new SUVs in the market. Interested in the Cadillac XT5? Here are three things Consumer Reports loves about the 2023 Cadillac XT5.
The 2023 Cadillac XT5’s interior is visually appealing and comfortable with its plush and superbly detailed opulent cabin. All trims above the base trim have genuine leather upholstery. However, the base trim has beautiful imitation leather seating.
The majority of the panels, such as the edges of the midpoint console, have a soft-touch material covered with additional pieces of wood, chrome, and fine stitching adorning the dashboard and sections of the doors.
As you move up the model range, more opulent interior features are included, just like any premium SUV of its class. For instance, the Platinum Package enhances the inside materials with semi-aniline leather seats, premium carpeted floor mats, and more, while the Premium Luxury trim adds an ultra-view sunroof.
According to Consumer Reports, only minor fitment imperfections were found on the posterior of the front seatbacks. Also, a cheap-feeling security shade in the cargo space detracts from the upscale premium feeling of the cabin interior.

Despite the 2023 Cadillac XT5’s compact size, the back seat has generous knee and headroom. The back seats in the XT5 are tolerably cozy and offer sufficient support for extended trips. Heated rear outer seats and genuine leather upholstery are also included with an adjustable backrest, according to Cadillac.
During the test drive, Consumer Reports found the back seat that the steady, flat cushions afford generally good support and comfort. Still, the bottommost cushion is significantly short, reducing thigh support. This can be tiresome for shorter passengers. Nevertheless, the flat flooring creates good foot space for the mid-seat passenger.

The front seats in the 2023 Cadillac XT5 are supportive and comfortable because they are well-shaped and firmly padded. Even better, there’s an extension on the driver’s seat bottommost cushion to offer more thigh support and comfort. Standard power seat adjustments are available to offer different positioning options.
Consumer Reports found that the power lumbar adjustment for the front seats is standard on all 2023 Cadillac XT5 besides the base trim. Conversely, it only adjusts in and out. Also, the left foot rest was considered intrusive, pushing the driver to slant in their seat, compromising the left thigh support and luxury.
Notably, the forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance are standard in the 2023 Cadillac XT5. Other features like the blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are standard on all besides the base model.
According to Consumer Reports, the 2023 Cadillac XT5 is a worthy purchase whose ride is significantly improved compared to the 2021 model. It remains firm, steady, and absorbent on the road, just like any other SUV of its class.
