Introduced in 2015, the Jeep Renegade expands the brand’s vehicle lineup, entering the growing small sport-utility vehicle (SUV) segment, while staying true to the adventurous lifestyle and Jeep 4x4 capability. Renegade delivers a unique combination of best-in-class off-road capability, open-air freedom and convenience, world-class refinement, and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology offerings.
Available in Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk models and 4x2 or 4x4 driveline configurations (except Trailhawk), the Jeep Renegade adds two new models for 2017 – the Deserthawk and the Altitude.
The Jeep Renegade Deserthawk takes the Trailhawk’s rugged appearance and best-in-class capability a step further with exclusive features and functionality inspired by the desert – an extreme location where the legendary capability of Jeep vehicles is best expressed. Available in Alpine White, Anvil, Black or Deserthawk-exclusive Mojave Sand, the Jeep Renegade Deserthawk features fully painted 17-inch black wheels, exclusive hood and rear body panel decals, rock rails and Trailer Tow Group. Inside, the Renegade Deserthawk features an exclusive interior with black leather seats, Light Frost stitching and accents, all-weather floor mats and cargo tray mat.
The Jeep Renegade Altitude is based on the Latitude model and features a unique “blacked-out” look with a distinct, aggressive flair. Available in all exterior colors, the Jeep Renegade Altitude features 18-inch Gloss Black wheels with Gloss Black accents around the exterior, including the front and rear badges, grille rings and tail lamp rings. Inside, the Renegade special edition’s blacked-out theme continues with a black interior, black premium cloth seats and High Gloss Black finishes. Metal Diamond accents are found throughout on key touch points, such as the shifter knob and door handles.
Base power for the Renegade is generated by the automaker’s 1.4L Multiair four-cylinder turbo engine. Limited models are equipped with a more powerful 2.4L Multiair four-cylinder engine. Torque is communicated to the wheels via C635 six-speed manual gearbox for base models, while the Limited is outfitted with a 948TE nine-speed automatic transmission. Both the upmarket engine and automatic transmission are available options on the base models.
For customers who demand the more off-road capability, the Renegade Trailhawk model delivers best-in-class Trail Rated 4x4 capability with: standard Jeep Active Drive Low with 20:1 crawl ratio; Selec-Terrain system with exclusive Rock mode; increased ride height 0.8 inches to 8.7 inches; skid plates; signature red front and rear tow hooks; unique fascias deliver 30.5 degree approach, 25.7 degree breakover and 34.3 degree departure angles; unique 17-inch wheels with aggressive on-road and off-road tires; up to 8.1 inches of wheel articulation; Hill-descent Control; up to 19 inches of water fording; and up to 2,000-lb. towing capability with available tow package.
Inside the passenger cabin, the all-new Jeep Renegade features a rugged and energetic appearance that builds upon Jeep’s legendary brand heritage. This small SUV’s precisely crafted detail, innovative and high-quality color and material appointments, state-of-the-art technology, and clever storage draw inspiration from contemporary extreme sports gear and lifestyles. The Renegade has a distinctive form language for the interior, which Jeep designers have titled “Tek-Tonic.” This new design theme is defined by the intersections of soft and tactile forms with rugged and functional details. Major surfaces, such as the sculpted soft-touch instrument panel, are intersected with bold functional elements like the passenger grab handle – indispensable for off-road adventures and borrowed from its big brother, the legendary Jeep Wrangler.
Unique “protective clamp fasteners,” anodized design accents and inspired colors are derived from extreme sports equipment, while the newly familiar “X” shapes inspired by its roof and tail lamps add to Renegade’s Tek-Tonic interior look. And to make sure all of the needed passenger gear fits, the Renegade is designed with an efficient and flexible interior package that includes a fold-forward front-passenger seat and class-exclusive removable, reversible and height-adjustable cargo floor panel.
