The base model of the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX is $6,555 pricier than last year.
Pickup trucks with a muscle car engine require big bucks, and the Ram 1500 TRX is no different. If you want to get the 2021 model, dealerships would demand a fee somewhere around $72,120. However, if your sights are set on the 2022 model, then prepare to spend up to $78,675, a difference of $6,555.
Remember, it's a high-performance vehicle loaded with a bighearted 602 hp supercharged engine. It's a winner when compared to rivals like the Chevrolet Silverado or Ford’s F-150 Raptor. Plus, it's now available in a new trim called Ignition which sells for USD 93,280, USD 3015 more than the 2021 model’s elite trim, the Launch Edition will cost you ($90,265).
Several reasons are behind why the 2022 model year costs more than its forerunner. Since we're experiencing a major semiconductor shortage, that could be why. Or maybe it's because high-speed trucks have become increasingly popular. Or possibly it's the new bright orange paint job exclusive to the Ignition edition.
This feature seeks the real cause of the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX’s high starting price.

As the company prepares to unveil an electric muscle car in 2024, many old-school muscle car devotees wonder how long before Dodge kills Hellcat production. Well, there's no need to speculate. Late last year, the CEO of Dodge, Tim Kuniskis, announced that production of the famous Hellcat engine will cease in 2023.
From an interview with Motor Authority, Kuniskis affirmed that the Hellcat will be made from now till late 2023. This doesn't mean that all Hellcat-powered vehicles will be pulled out of the market. What this means is that models like the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and even the Ram 1500 TRX will no longer have that mighty engine.
What's a muscle car without a mighty roar, car enthusiasts may ask. Although the news came from Dodge, a cousin to Ram, we can't help but wonder if that's what's behind the 2022 model year's price surge. When asked for a quote, a Ram PR staff declined the offer.
Even if Ram doesn't cancel production of the much-loved Hellcat in 2023, how much time does the supercharger have left?
Perhaps the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX’s elusive price tag is due to the company’s electrification efforts. Just like Dodge, Chrysler, Maserati, and every brand under the Stellantis company, Ram will release an electric truck soon. The exact year isn't certain, but all subsidiaries of Stellantis have until 2030 to launch electric vehicles (EVs).
This becomes vital as the world gradually embraces EVs as the new era of automobiles. There are many fans loyal to a petrol pickup truck, so maybe that's why Ram's bosses feel a limited edition should cost more.

Expect more plug-in hybrid vehicles as Stellantis hopes to catch up with rivals Ford and General Motors, who already have forthcoming electric editions of the F-150 and GMC Hummer respectively.
According to predictions, Stellantis should record a massive 31% in EV sales by 2025. The company plans to build battery factories in Europe and the US, a move expected to increase its output.
While some may fancy the horizontal touchscreen that the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado offers, it doesn't come with the many perks that Ram’s pickup effortlessly has. When reviewed in a YouTube video, we saw that the 1500 TRX’s infotainment screen is vertically placed at the dashboard’s center. When measured, it's 12.0 inches, so it's wide enough for the finger and eyes.
You get Apple Carplay, Android Auto, an inbuilt navigation system, and SiriusXM satellite radio. What's more, you can access a split-screen feature so that different applications can run simultaneously. The screen also lets you track the car’s performance using parameters like power, drag, torque.
Also available, is a feature that, when activated, cools down the truck’s engine. A major downside of the infotainment screen is that you get a segmented integration when Apple Carplay and Android Auto are active. Certain icons on both apps are hidden on the narrow screen.
The Ignition Edition is a fresh trim that not only sports a bright orange finish but is a speedster. It's capable of making 60 miles per hour within 3.7 seconds, and it attains a top speed of 110 miles per hour. Buying the Ignition Edition package gets you more performance, high speed, and a catchy exterior color.
It runs on a quartet of rich 18-inch wheels dipped in color black. If you're willing to spend an extra USD 7,920, your pickup will have a luxury suede steering wheel that is soft to the touch, thereby improving handling. Forming part of its outlandish design are the “Ram” logos inscribed on the floor mats.
The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX is a competent pickup truck that deserves your attention, and money (haha). Its durability excels on and off the road. Note that Ram made only 875 units of the Ignition Edition, so act fast if superiority is what you crave.
