TO MY MILD MAIDEN

Love me not my gentle mistress
Like the shinning sun
That by everyday rises and shines
But when night arrives she suddenly vanishes
While I must keep watch over you.

Love me not my gentle mistress
Like the monthly moon
That travels round the earth every twenty-eight plus days
But thereafter throws the African griots and infants into the dark
While I must keep watch over you

Love me not my gentle mistress
Like even the flourishing farmland
That is for a few seasons rich in manure and full fertility
But thereafter must lie fallow to replenish its virginity
While I just keep watch over you

Love me not my gentle mistress
Like such unstable, restless and seasonal Swallow
That by the Winter embraces and enjoys Africa
But only to escape to the Northern world for Summer
While I must keep watch over you

But love me o my mild maiden, mistress
Like the immortal air that breathes out life into mortal souls
Love me really really dearly like a white dove
In this manner, love me o imposing, o genuine and gorgeous mistress
As it remains imperative that I keep watch over you.
